Slide Kizuna into your Game Boy Advance link port — the same spot the old link cable went. That's the only connection you make.

Kizuna talks to your Switch wirelessly, just like a second Game Boy. Open the trade menu in your game and it appears, ready.

Questions

Does it change my save file? +
No hacking, no editing. It performs a real, in-game trade the same way two Game Boys would — your Pokémon simply leaves one game and arrives in the other, exactly as the games intend.
Do I need any special software? +
No. You use the trade menu that's already in your game. Kizuna plugs into the GBA link port and handles the rest.
Which games work? +
Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald on Game Boy Advance, trading to and from the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen. More titles may follow.
Can I trade both directions? +
Yes — move Pokémon from your GBA cartridge to the Switch, or back the other way.
How is it powered? +
Over a standard USB-C cable — nothing to charge, no batteries.
The name

Kizuna means “bond.”

Kizuna (絆) is the Japanese word for the bond between people — the ties that hold across years and distance. We named it on purpose: this device carries more than save data. It brings the Pokémon you bonded with twenty years ago into the games you play today.
